Hello fellow Ark admins!
I wanted to get some feedback from fellow admins on an issue that I believe most of us deal with. The issue of choosing what your server rates should be so that people can easily come on and spend some time playing and not have to dedicate a whole day to it, RL > Gamelife every time, but refrain from making it too easy that they accomplish all they believe that exists in the game and your active user count goes down. Add mods into it and you have a really difficult issue to address.
In that last iteration of the server that we had before the wipe and map change we had 5x everything across the board. Mind you this was the first server my friend and I have ever ran. We learned a couple things, primarily things about server stability, this was also on a host that was not as capable as Uhost. Our community is 18+ therefore we have many members that have jobs and daily responsibilities they have commitments to. So we wanted to create a decent balance between rates and progression so that someone that has work and kids could easily come on after work, play for an hour or so and accomplish something that helps them enjoy the game, but also allow them to binge play on their days off or whenever without making it too easy to reach the end game. So on this recent wipe we went from a gather rate of 5 to 3 and a tame rate of 5 to 3 (Which was eventually voted to 4x). Mating interval has remained low and mature rates are high, because breeding times are just friggin rediculous.
I just wanted to see if any other admins had similar issues and what they did to address them in their communities.
