How to make yourself admin in your new uHostPro Unturned server
read the [knowledgebase] how to activate your server (in server control panel update steam and rocket) = http://uhostpro.com/pro/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=62
once the server is active and u see there is cpu / memory activity u can continue.
it doesnt matter if u now stop server or keep the server running, all changes u will make in the configs will only take place when u save the changes, and restart the server.
ok follow next steps
- find out your steam ID number
steamidnumber is a 17 digit number u can find in steam = go steam, top left click [steam] >> [settings] >> [interface] >> put [display steam URL address bar when available] on
now u will see in every steam page or window a tiny url on top under the menu bars. if u go to your profile u can see a URL with a 17 digit number in it. that number is your steam id number.
2: to make yourself owner.
note = it may be that this step is not needed and outdated, or rocket overhauls it. because i dont see any effects and also it doesnt load the owner thing in logs. anyway it cant do any harm, to do it:
go [configuration files] > [text editor]
(this edits the COMMANDS.DAT file)
after the text u make a new line with [Enter] and u add this =
click [SAVE] to save, or [CANCEL] to leave without changing anything to the file
3: to make yourself admin in your server
go to [file manager] >> chose folders [server] >> [root] >> [rocket]. here u edit the file PERMISSIONS.CONFIG.XML u can edit by clicking the pencil icon next to it
NOTE=permissions is a file where players are organised in groups, with each group getting certain permisions to do commands or to recieve plugins , example kits (u need to download from dev.rocketmod.net), so basicaly this file is the main centre of rocket where all the players and commands come together to be organised.
when u edit the file u will see lines of code. dont touch them lol. if u read on u will see a <Group>default</Group> this is the permission area for all players who are not directed in any specific group. under it u will see a <Group>vip</Group> ,
the rocket developper added his/her steam id here to show as example how and where to add it.
u can either overwrite that 17 digit number with your number. or if u want to keep rockets developper id in it, u can copy the <Member> line and paste it under it and then overwrite the steam id with your steam id. this adds u to the permission group [vip].
now u will see in the vip group there are some commands, under those <Command> lines, add a new line with this:
(the spaces before the command are not changing their effect its only to give some order in all the lines)
this makes [vip] members to make themselves or anyone else admin.
be sure u edit correctly, then click [SAVE] on top, or [CANCEL] to leave without changing anything to the file
in main server control panel restart the server. if it was running first stop it.
now go play in your server. when u entered, and as example your name is bob, then type this in chat:
replace “bob” with your name, u are now admin !
to remove your admin power type:
replace “bob” with your name, u are now not admin anymore!
thats it !
NOTE: the command [unadmin] is available to all admins, as are many more commands, however when u [unadmin] yourself u cannot [unadmin] anyone anymore, since u are not admin anymore, … unless u add the command <Command>unadmin</Command> to the group u are in , and so is the case for all admin-commands.
the commands that admins can use are fixed and cannot be taken away from admins, but u can add any of the admin-commands to your or any group. to see all commands i think some are here http://unturned.wikia.com/wiki/Server_Commands and https://github.com/RocketMod/Rocket/wiki/Commands but some may be outdated . also here some more explanation how permissions work https://github.com/RocketMod/Rocket/wiki/Permissions
